Top Tip for the Day – Gaining Trust

If you want to be successful in anything that you do, you need to have complete trust in yourself above all things. If your work involves liaising with other people, you need to be able to trust them also.

Placing trust in yourself can be easier said than done! It’s easy to relapse into an attitude where everything can wait until tomorrow. How many times have you woke up with a ‘Today is the day when things change’ mindset, only for that little devil on your shoulder jump up and suggest that it’s ok to delay until tomorrow?

It takes a positive approach and a very determined thought process to ensure that you stay on track. Even when you are feeling strong, it’s easy for others to knock us off balance.

Tolerance is Key

Tolerance can be a huge help towards trust. If you are accepting of most people, you will no doubt expect less of them in return. Much of tolerance issues are based upon the feeling of why a certain individual does not live up to our expectations. We always seem to want more than someone is prepared to give or we expect them to change habits of a lifetime.

Adopting the correct temperament can make massive inroads into being successful and having a much better relationship with others.

If you tend to always think the worst about people, then it will show through in your temperament. It creates anxiety and mistrust which may mean you are never able to relax. You will be on edge all of the time, probably expecting something bad to happen at any moment.

You may be worrying about every little incident, including things which haven’t even happened yet (and most likely won’t occur anyway). All is that worry is extremely bad for your health and well-being. You’ll never be able to relax and above all enjoy life!

Learning to trust yourself

This really is the key to feeling fulfilled and being able to adopt a positive approach, not just towards yourself but to others also.

There are various ways in which you can achieve this.

Some people find that reading books help. There are lots in the marketplace but you do need to be careful about getting too embroiled in a singular course of action. It’s easy to read one book and then self-diagnose.

Specialist counsellors can also assist but there is always the danger of becoming obsessed with singular thoughts. They may even bring up issues from your past which you had well and truly buried. This can be harmful if all you really need is some general help.

One thing that is absolutely paramount, is that you have complete trust in the person, or organisation you confide in. Once you have ascertained that trust, be open and honest about your feelings. This doesn’t mean you have to ‘tell all’.

3 Very Important Steps to Take

Don’t be so quick to judge, especially when it may concern something negative.

Be kind to yourself and others above all other things.

Make positive moves to empower yourself and be more accepting of others.

Stay Safe
