Becoming a Cam Model

Do you have bills to pay? Do you wish you didn’t have to travel to work every day? Would you like to work from home? Would you prefer to choose your own working hours?

These are just some of the questions that drive individuals to look at becoming a Cam Model. However, most do not pursue the idea due to stigma surrounding the industry and/or the belief that they do not hold the necessary body image to be successful.

If they do take the step forward into webcam modelling, they soon realise that the reality is very different.

Do you really have the right body image?

Social media and marketing really do have a lot to answer for with regard people’s opinion about what looks right and what does not. Many will have grown up in a world where the likes of Insta/Twitter/Tik Tok etc have always existed. Those that did not, tend to find it easier to see through the photo-shopped world we now live in.

The truth of the matter is that everyone is an individual and we are all looking for someone who in turn is as different as the next person. Feeling positive about yourself is the first step towards a successful career in camming. Whether you are a petite, blue eyed blonde or a plus size, brown eyed, brunette.

What do guys really look for in a Cam Model?

Those that want to cam with you are generally looking for a connection or liaison of sorts. It could be for some instant gratification, or perhaps a long-term relationship. Most will be primarily interested in your personality and characteristics. These could belong to the real you, or be the ones you only show while on cam.

You’ll find that most guys just want to chat, discuss their day, talk about their likes and dislikes and generally converse with someone who can be referred to as a very good friend and a ‘confidente’.

Models confirm that over 70% of the time they spend on cam is talking and getting to know the other person. Of course, you will always get those looking for a cheap thrill but the key is to always humour everyone on cam. You never know when or if that person on cam who started off looking for a freebie, could turn into a long term spender.

Should you invent a Cam persona?

It does all depend upon how comfortable you feel with people knowing you are a cam model. People’s perceptions of what happens on cam is somewhat different to what actually happens. You should enjoy meeting new people, chatting and be able to listen.

There are 2 options for you to consider.

The first is that you are happy with your friends and family knowing that you work on cam (although they will not understand the reality of what really goes on, there is little point in trying to persuade them otherwise).

The second, is that you remain anonymous and ensure that absolutely none of your personal life crosses over into your work life and vice versa.

If you feel that you should act something different to your normal persona, it’s a good idea to write it down. That way, you can be practised and able to be comfortable in the role you are portraying.
